The other day, after a few hard days of motherhood

The other day, after a few hard days of motherhood, this sweet boy plopped himself on my lap, sang me our song and then asked me if someday I would dance with him to his song on his wedding day. 🕊️🥹🌱

In the midst of a growing season, of pressing into the Lord in motherhood, surrendering my flesh to the strength of Jesus to pour out all of who I want to be as a mama, this moment reminded me of the legacy we are building with our children in the ordinary rhythms of our days.

It reminded me that the words we sing or speak over our children really do matter and sink deep into their souls, that the soil of their little hearts are receiving all the tiny seeds we plant, even though so often we have not yet seen all that is sprouting up our of the ground.

It reminded me that our eyes can so easily fix upon the hard things of motherhood, that we miss the beauty and goodness, in the midst of the hard, and that our children are growing in the grace of Jesus, right alongside our growing hearts as mamas.

These rhythms that are woven into the dailyness our children’s lives now, of intention, love and connection, even when we’re weary, warn our and with nothing left to give, will bear the most beautiful fruit of those same rhythms that will be passed down through generations to come.

And one day I pray he remembers the songs I sang over him, the words of encouragement that poured of my lips, the truths about God heart and characters that I declared over him and the way I embraced him in his hardest and most messy of days…and that all along, we were building a legacy of love that will someday serve as a beautiful soft place to land.

May this be an encouragement to keep going, keep planting those tiny seeds, keep pressing into those daily rhythms and keep trusting that God cares more than we could ever imagine about all the generations to come.

The ordinary, messy, sanctifying moments of today really do matter more than we know, but what a gift that God invited us to surrender our hearts to him as he shepherds our souls in all that it means to me a mama. 🕊️

On the podcast, we chatted all about the launch of my newest book, “The Magic of Childhood,” but also shared my story about becoming a mama, waiting on the Lord through infertility, miscarriage and adoption, and what it looks like to live out our daily surrender to Jesus and trust him with the dreams on our hearts. 🕊️

As we stood there in church, hands raised to heave

As we stood there in church, hands raised to heaven, singing over and over “All Hail King Jesus,” tears streamed down my face as the the reality of the most radical love story ever written sunk into the depths of my soul.

The risen Savior has made a way for our hearts forever and he’s asked nothing of us, literally nothing, not our perfection, not our good works, not our striving, not a single thing…only our surrender to receive his invitation to the love story that will last for all of eternity.

There’s not enough breath in my lungs or praise that could fall of my lips to worship him enough, he wants us just as we are, messy, broken, doubting and without hope, the very contents of our hearts as we are right now, he came to rescue us into his perfect love.

He says “come as you are,” to the one who is weary with nothing left to give. He says “come as you are,” to the one who so messy and broken, living in the depths of sin and shame. He says “come as you are,” to the one who is doubting and lacking in hope.

The promise of Easter Sunday is our spiritual reality when we trust in Jesus, for our whole life, he is redeeming and resurrecting everything, and all he asks of us is to receive the riches of his glorious grace, as we respond to the love of a Savior who paid the price for all of eternity.

Thank you, Jesus, what radical love is this. I pray that over my heart and yours, this wouldn’t just be a story that we celebrate on Easter, but that the cross would change every moment of our every days, as we receive his invitation over and over again, to come, just as we are and let his grace steep into every fiber of our hearts, what love is this. Thank you that we have the promise of everlasting life, forevermore!!! 🕊️🤍🌸

Mama, I wonder if you need to hear this…you’re doing a really good job.

God never expected your perfection, he simply asked for your presence.

He asked that you would show up to this holy call of motherhood and let him do the work.

Because it’s the showing up that matters, even when you don’t have all the answers and when you feel like you have nothing left to give.

All he’s asking is that you would say “yes,” yes to faithfulness in the every day, yes to joy in the mundane and yes to following him, no matter the cost.

The truth is, he really does love you more than you could ever imagine and he created you to be a mama.
