THE DAILY FIVE | DAILY RHYTHMS FOR SPIRITUAL DISCIPLESHIP

As mamas, God invites us to the joy and honor of partnering with Him in discipling the little hearts in our homes.

But with the joy and honor of discipleship, can also bring the weight of feeling overwhelmed by all the things we could be doing for our children’s spiritual formation.

As I’ve been praying about what this looks like in raising our sweet boy, God graciously reminded me of these five daily rhythms that He calls me to as my own spiritual discipline,

and as we partner with Him, it’s His Spirit through our words and actions that teaches, invites, encourages, helps and guides the little hearts in our homes to know the depths of His love.

And it’s because of that great love that He has for them, that I believe our children will come to know and receive the gift of salvation and follow after Jesus all the days of their lives.

So let’s view this joy and honor of discipling the little hearts in our homes as simply our full dependence on Jesus, as we partner with Him and ask His Spirit to do this work through us.

These spiritual rhythms are not a checklist to compete, but sweet invitations to the heart of God that we get to lead our children to in our every day lives.

Mama, God chose you to disciple the little hearts in your home, but He’s never asked you to do it alone,

by the work of Holy Spirit in and through our hearts, God is making a way for the little hearts in our homes to know the depths of his love.

THE DAILY FIVE

Daily Rhythms for Discipleship | A Mama’s Guide to Spiritual Formation in the Home

1. PRAY :

Teach your child how to pray.

Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.

1 thessalonians 5:16-18

2. BIBLE :

Invite your child to read the Bible.

With my whole heart I seek you;
let me not wander from your commandments!
I have stored up your word in my heart,
that I might not sin against you.

Psalm 119:10-11

3. WORSHIP :

Encourage your child’s love for worship.

Enter his gates with thanksgiving,
    and his courts with praise!
Give thanks to him; bless his name!

Psalm 100:4

4. SERVE :

Help your child learn how to serve.

For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.

Mark 10:45

5. REPENT :

Guide your child’s heart to repentance.

Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord, and that he may send the Messiah, who has been appointed for you—even Jesus.

Acts 3:19-20

So let’s be praying mamas who are relying fully on God for the spiritual formation in the hearts of our children, believing this promise –

Train up a child in the way he should go;
even when he is old he will not depart from it.

Proverbs 22:6
