Liam’s Third Birthday | “Hundred Acre Wood”

And just like that, our sweet boy is officially three and I’m over here wondering where the time went! It feels like just yesterday we were holding him in our arms for the very first time on a beautiful, sunshine-filled morning in July, and now, here we are, three years later and celebrating the life of this sweet boy (and his love for all things Winnie the Pooh)!

In preparation for this sweet boy’s birthday, I asked him what he wanted to do for his party and he asked to find Eeyore’s tail, eat peaches with his friends and play in the Hundred Acre Wood.

So, we planned a scavenger hunt to find Eeyore’s tail, filled a basket with fresh peaches from our local farm stand and transformed our backyard into the Hundred Acre Wood, and it was everything his little heart dreamed of and more.

When he woke up the morning of his parry and saw his sweet vision come to life, his little heart was filled to the brim. He continued thanking us for his Winnie the Pooh birthday party, hugging all the Winnie the Pooh characters throughout our backyard, snacking on peaches with all of his little friends and is now referring to our backyard as the Hundred Acre Wood!

If you’re new around here, my heart delights in baking sourdough, gathering around the table and nourishing the hearts and bellies of everyone who comes to our home. And this pretty table scene, filled with sourdough, homemade jam, butter and pesto, petite sundried tomato basil and bacon rosemary gruyére frittatas, and lemon poppyseed lavender scones (and of course, fresh peaches!) may just be my favorite thing about the party.

Our sweet boy picked almost everything on the menu, and it was the sweetest thing to watch all of his little friends walk around with juicy peaches and enjoy fresh sourdough with strawberry jam. It truly felt like we were in a scene out of Winnie the Pooh as we gathered around the table in the Hundred Acre Wood together!

When our sweet boy asked to find Eeyore’s tail, my former kindergarten teacher heart delighted and we began dreaming up a way to include all of the Winnie the Pooh characters around the Hundred Acre Wood. By creating a scavenger hunt for the little ones, with beautiful illustrations by Rachel Lynn Designs, we set out to find Eeyore’s Tail!

On the scavenger hunt, we explored with Christopher Robin, ate honey with Winnie the Pooh, bounced with Tigger, flew with Owl, gardened with Rabbit, floated with Piglet and snuggled with Kanga & Roo, and it brought the beautiful narratives of Winnie the Pooh to life all throughout our backyard.

And we can’t forget about the Winnie the Pooh inspired birthday cake for our sweet boy. With layers honey vanilla cake, homemade whipped cream and fresh berries, the cake beautifully fit the theme of the birthday party and brought so much joy to our sweet boy!

We truly had the perfect summer morning celebrating the birthday boy, surrounding by our dearest friends, playing in the Hundred Acre Wood, eating peaches to our heart’s content and ending the day singing “happy birthday,”. I think this will be one of those birthdays that we will always remember and the sweetest memory to capture this beloved Winnie the Pooh era of Liam’s childhood days!

After his party was over and it was time for nap time, Liam stayed awake for all of nap talking all about Winnie the Pooh, his sweet friends and his happiest birthday party! I think it’s safe to say that his little heart felt so loved and celebrated to have all of his friends delighting in all things Winnie the Pooh in the Hundred Acre Wood for his party. We are so grateful for all the sweetest friends to do life with and so grateful for all the love and celebration of our sweet boy!

We love you to pieces, Liam Tate! It’s such a joy to celebrate you and your big love for Winnie the Pooh!
